CASE STUDY |
|
| |
| Federal Compliance of a Laser Wirestripping and Coding System |
| |
Challenge |
| |
| A Fortune 100 electronics firm was developing a CO2-based laser wire stripper and coder for use in the stripping and marking of flat ribbon cable assemblies. The machine was to be used in-house, but multiple copies were to be made and leased or sold to customers. Since this represented the first such type of machinery designed, developed, and sold by this client, issues of certification and compliance were not well understood. |
| |
Solution |
| |
| The Photonics Group was contracted and after meeting with the client, developed a checklist for compliance, gathered information, and authored an application for compliance to the Federal Laser Performance Standard (21CFR1040.10/.11). Additionally, through its NRTL testing partner, the product was tested and granted various agency approvals, including the C E mark. |
| |
Conclusion |
| |
| The project schedule defined a 60-day timeline. The Photonics Group completed the project within the 60 day schedule- including the testing provided by the testing partner. The Photonics Group completed this project at the budget allocated. |
