Product Development

The Photonics Group, through its Product Development Team, develops concepts into prototypical hardware, or takes an existing prototype and hardens the design to make it manufacturable. We consistently deliver prototypes that meet our client’s budget, schedule, and specification requirements. We are very sensitive to client concerns regarding intellectual property and manage highly confidential material for our military, government, and commercial clients. For developing medical prototypes, we have in-depth experience with FDA certification requirements and GMP process practices. Our optical design expertise and specialization in optomechanical design distinguish us from other engineering contractors and prototype builders. Our proven design methodology guarantees that we deliver what the client ordered, and that it operates according to specifications.

We offer three phases of prototype development which define the entire product development cycle from conception to manufacturable device:

Proof-Of-Concept ("ALPHA")

If a theoretical design has to be proven, we will deliver a prototype that meets or exceeds the performance and physical specifications set forth in the design.

Test and Evaluation ("BETA")

If a theory has been proven by a working model, but requires a version that can withstand the rigors of testing and operational trials. From laboratory instruments to military-qualified products- we can help.

Pre-Production ("GAMMA")

If a product has advanced through testing, and basic operational design is completed, but ease of manufacturability is desired, we will produce a Gamma prototype set to define final design and manufacturing bandwidth.

Additionally, once a product completes the Gamma phase of development, we offer Pilot Production capabilities to further ensure a safe, cost-effective, and efficient transfer of your product to production.
